What is Unity DevOps?

Unity DevOps consists of two core components: Unity Version Control and Unity Build Automation.

Unity Version Control
Tailored for game dev

Create efficiently with a version control system (VCS) made to help programmers, artists, and designers overcome game development challenges, powered by Plastic SCM technology.

Unity Build Automation
Multiplatform builds in the cloud

Making quality games means testing early and often and releasing frequently. Automate your build pipeline in the cloud and keep development moving with Unity Build Automation.

Key benefits

VCS purpose-built for game development

Leverage a version control tool designed specifically for the rigors of game development, with optimized workflows for both artists and programmers and the agility to handle large files and binaries with speed.

Build across platforms in the cloud

Seamlessly build across multiple platforms in the cloud without the need to maintain a build farm or purchase platform-specific infrastructure, reducing costs and freeing time to work on higher-priority tasks.

Iteration through automation

Supercharge your feedback loop with automation. Remove inefficient collaboration and automate manual workflows to speed changes through the DevOps lifecycle, so you can try more ideas and deliver incredibly innovative games.

Catch bugs earlier

Release often to test more and catch errors earlier. Unity DevOps reduces redundant work, streamlines development, and empowers your team to focus on higher-value tasks, leading to better releases.

Deliver more content

Equip teams with the tools and agility to deliver steady streams of high-quality, innovative content to delight and engage your players.

Operational flexibility

Unity DevOps is a pay-as-you-go solution. Use just what you need, and only pay for what you use to right-size this solution for your project and development stage. Track all DevOps usage on one dashboard, and pay on one invoice.

What happened to Plastic SCM and Cloud Build?

Plastic SCM and Cloud Build used to exist as independent products, but we have now combined them as unique components of our unified Unity DevOps solution. They are the same great solutions built on the same great technology, simply rebranded as Unity Version Control and Unity Build Automation. Read the Version Control and Build Automation FAQ.

Do I have to purchase Unity Version Control and Build Automation separately?

No. Both Version Control and Build Automation are components of Unity DevOps. Enrolling in Unity DevOps will give all provisioned users access to both the Version Control and Build Automation components of Unity DevOps.

How do I get started?

To begin using Unity DevOps, you can sign up here. Upon signup, you will receive instant access to all components, including three free seats, 5 GB of storage, and 200 Windows build minutes. Any usage over the included free tier will be billed to the credit card on file.

Why do I have to enter my credit card to get started?

Unity DevOps is a pay-as-you-go solution. This allows you to only pay for what you need instead of pre-purchasing increments you might not use, however, it requires us to have a credit card on file to ensure any additional usage is billed appropriately. This also allows you to scale up and down your usage of the product without contacting Unity to adjust licensing or provisioning.

What is Unity Cloud?

Unity Cloud is an ecosystem of products and services that makes work on games and real-time 3D experiences creator-focused, accessible, and connected.

Unity Cloud includes:

  • Unity Asset Manager with storage (currently in beta)

I am new to DevOps. What DevOps features will I get as part of my Unity Cloud subscription?

Subscribers to Unity Pro, Enterprise, and Industry receive:

  • 1 DevOps seat per Pro, Enterprise, or Industry license
  • 200 Windows build minutes and 5 GB of storage for project data per organization
  • Costs for additional seats, compute, storage, and concurrency will be charged upon consumption.*

Unity Personal and Unity Cloud Personal subscribers get three (3) seats per organization, 200 Windows build minutes, and 5 GB of storage for project data. Costs for additional seats, compute, storage, and concurrency will be charged upon consumption.

*During the Cloud early access period, Unity Pro, Enterprise, and Industry subscribers new to DevOps will not be charged for exceeding tiers for storage or compute consumption of all machine types. Learn more.

I already subscribe to DevOps. How will Unity Cloud impact my existing subscription?

If you already have Unity DevOps, seat allocations associated with Unity Pro, Enterprise, or Industry will be applied incrementally to your existing count.

  • DevOps seats that are included with Unity Cloud are locked to the Unity Cloud license owner.
  • If your team holds 10 Unity Pro licenses, and 5 of your Unity Pro license holders also have existing DevOps licenses, your 5 DevOps seats will be assigned to your Pro license subscribers. In the end, you will have: 10 DevOps seats from your Unity Pro subscription and 5 unassigned standalone DevOps seats.

A seat is not needed to use DevOps Build Automation. To collaborate with teammates who do not need an Editor subscription in DevOps Version Control, you can purchase additional seats by subscribing to standalone DevOps. Learn more.
